Essential Beliefs

Because we want to build up the true church, it is important that we identify what that is. These are the Christian beliefs that we hold to be essential. We will not work with communities that do not affirm these beliefs.

The Apostles Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

everything that exists outside of God was created by God.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.

Jesus was fully God and fully man. He had two natures (human and divine) and one person. Jesus was not created by the Father. He was the Word at the beginning.

We Reject All 6 Major Christological Heresies

Ebionism – “Jesus wasn’t really God”
Docetism – “Jesus wasn’t really human”
Arianism – “Jesus was created”
Apollinarianism – “Jesus’ mind and soul weren’t human”
Nestorianism – “Jesus had two persons”
Monophysitism – “Jesus had one nature”

He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to hell. The third day he rose again from the dead.

The story of Jesus is only powerful because it is really true. When exploring the past with unbiased historical methods, we find plentiful evidence for the Gospel claim of resurrection.

He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

Christ will come again in the future. The kingdom of heaven is near but it has not yet been fully realized. Those not in Christ at the time of Christ’s second coming will be judged and punished for their sins.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

The third person of the trinity who is fully God.

the holy true church,

The bride of Christ which was selected by God to deliver the gospel to the earth.

the communion of saints,

Those in Christ will commune with each other for eternity.

the forgiveness of sins,

By Jesus’ blood we have been made clean.

the resurrection of the body,

Just as Jesus physically rose, so will we.

and the life everlasting. Amen.

Life with Jesus offers us the best possible life in the here and now as well as the future in death.
